Compliance

Commercial entities now have multiple compliance responsibilities placed upon them. We are expert in interpreting these regulations into appropriate, relevant actions that your business needs to take to ensure compliance.

HEALTH & SAFETY

PUWER

(The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations)

places a duty on employers to protect employees’ safety through the proper selection and use of work equipment.

The risks to people’s health and safety, from equipment that they use at work, must be prevented or controlled.

Any equipment which is used by an employee at work is covered, for example hammers, knives, ladders, drilling machines, power presses, circular saws, photocopiers, lifting equipment (including lifts), dumper trucks and motor vehicles. Similarly, if you allow employees to provide their own equipment, it too will be covered by PUWER and you will need to make sure it complies.

BIOMASS HEALTH & SAFETY

We have co-written the CEA guide to the use of biomass, which as an evolving technology has risks associated with poor system design, implementation and operation. We currently advise NHS Scotland on how to safely operate their biomass installations.

COSHH

The control of substances harmful to health.

RIDDOR

Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013

The control of substances harmful to health.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

ESOS

The Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme requires a business to know its energy use and have plans to reduce it. This programme requires external audit which we are qualified to carry out. See page

EMISSIONS LEGISLATION FOR PLANT OPERATORS

MSCPD

The Medium Scale Combustion Plant Directive compels operators of combustion plants using any fuel with an output between 1 & 50 MW to comply with new emissions regulations. The new directive sets emission limit values for certain pollutants, namely sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and dust.

We are working the CEA to interpret how this legislation should be applied in the UK.

ARE YOU IN THE RHI NON-DOMESTIC SCHEME?

Do you know that you are now going to be inspected this year (100% of installations are). If you fail your inspection your payments may be stopped or they may even ask you to repay some of your RHI income.

The inspections are very onerous and we can help you with a pre-inspection audit. This is very comprehensive and the outcomes are:

  • You comply
  • You fail and we tell you where and what you have to do to comply
  • You fail and there are unfixable reasons why

As part of our audit we will provide you with a compliance report which will give you confidence that when the inspection comes, you will be in a good position.
